MDF (medium-density fibreboard) is a wood-based material produced by breaking down hard or softwood scraps into wood fibres, often in a defibrator, combining the fibres with wax and a resin binder and forming panels using high temperatures and pressures.
MDF is denser than plywood. It consists of separate fibres, but can be used as plywood-like building material. It is stronger and much denser than normal chipboard. Grain and colour may vary from sheet to sheet.
