The BRILLIANT TOOLS BT651100 mounting tool for shock absorbers with tension stop springs allows McPherson struts to be quickly and easily stretched to their maximum length and locked in a stretched position for mounting a new spring. The tool is especially suitable for struts that are equipped with strong inner springs (tension stop springs) that partially pull the piston rods into the damper tube. The tensioned stop springs mounted in some shock absorbers (struts) are designed to prevent damage to the strut if it ''pops out'' while driving. The spring is located directly inside the shock absorber and is not strained when the vehicle is stationary while in gear despite the vehicle load. The spring only activates when the strut reaches full extension during the compression. ...
