The new DVD+R media reduce burning time by almost 50% to only 8 minutes, compared with current 4x media. For this to be possible, Verbatim's parent company Mitsubishi Chemical Media has developed and optimised its well-known AZO metal dye (for 2.4x burning) for higher burning rates. The new dye, Advanced AZO, is used to create a recording layer with higher sensitivity that adapts to the laser power over a broad write area. This guarantees excellent stability - a precondition for these extremely high burning rates.
